Utilities Scam Alert from Eversource

Good afternoon,

Eversource is proudly joining more than 100 of our fellow electric, natural gas and water utilities and respective trade associations across North America in support of Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS). On November 15, the second annual Utility Scam Awareness Day, UUAS members are joining efforts in a coordinated public outreach and education campaign to expose increasingly common scam tactics and proactively educate our customers.

Throughout the year, we regularly share this important information to remind customers of actions they can take to protect themselves. As you’ll see below, in honor of Utility Scam Awareness Day, we’re amplifying that messaging with significant customer and community outreach including:

  • Social and traditional media in all states, leveraging UUAS campaign materials in coordination with other utilities (see attached press release).
  • Updated information, helpful tips and videos at eversource.com linked directly from the homepage.
  • Working closely with retailers of reloadable debit cards to provide customer education at the point-of-sale with eye-catching, state-specific signs reminding customers that their utility will never request payment made in this way (see attached sample sign).

Click here https://www.eversource.com/Content/ct-c/residential/safety/protect-you-your-family-from-scams for more information and tips for customers to protect themselves from scams and follow Eversource on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates on our outreach campaign. You can help by sharing this important information with those in your community, and together let’s put a stop to utility scams.

Thank you,

Cathy
