Yes, it's almost that time of year again! 

The first installment of taxes is due the month of July 2024. You have 30 days to pay, and they are delinquent after August 1st 2024. If your mortgage is escrowed, your physical tax bill will be mailed to the bank. As you can imagine, our office gets very busy at times. Just click here to pay your taxes online.  There is a charge paying by Credit Card, but just a $2.00 flat fee for e-checks. If you are unaware of the amount owed, you can send in a request by clicking on the link “Tax Information Request Form” on the left of this page. On July 1st, you can go online to see your tax bill.

Interest is charged at the rate of 1.5% per month. 18% per year from the due date of the tax, with a portion of a month being considered a full month.

We are enclosing an envelope for mailing in your payment.

If you want us to send you a receipt, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with your payment and the taxpayer portion of your bill.

When making your request for a Motor Vehicle adjustment, please send or fax verification of the change to the Assessor's Office: (860) 767-4340 ext. 123 or 124, or fax: (860) 767-8509. To send an attachment by e-mail: assessor@essexct.gov   

Our office will be closed on Thursday, June 27th and Friday, June 28th, to close the fiscal year and to prepare for July collections.

If you have not received your tax bill, make sure to contact us! Failure to receive a tax bill will not protect you from being charged interest on delinquent payments (CT Statute Section 12-130). And you can always print out your tax bill online.

For your convenience, you may drop off a payment in the secured dropbox located on the brick wall to the right of the back doors of the Town Hall. You don't need a stamp as it is not affiliated with USPS.
