Annual 2023 Income & Expense Form

All owners of commercial, industrial, or apartment property within the Town of Essex have been mailed the annual income and expense reports for the year ending 2023.

The information supplied to the Assessors’ office will be used to determine factors affecting the current commercial market.  These forms are due back to our office no later than June 1, 2024.  If your property is 100% owner occupied or rented to a related entity, please write “100% Owner Occupied” over the signature box and provide our office with any expense information that you can.  That will help us in determining the overall market factors pertaining to expenses.  Then sign, date and return the forms to the Assessors’ Office.

CT State Statute 12-63c(d) requires a 10% penalty be applied to the real estate assessment for any property that does not return the form to the Assessors’ Office.  This penalty will be applied for the October 1, 2023 grand list to those properties that have not returned the requested form by a certificate of correction and will be due with the July 2024 payment. **
