2023 Personal Property Legal Notice

Personal Property Declarations Due Nov 1

LEGAL NOTICE

All persons having taxable personal property to declare such as unregistered motor vehicle(s); farm equipment; any furniture, fixtures and equipment used in the operation of a business, must declare by November 1, 2023.  Declarations are available at the Assessor’s Office and on the Town of Essex website www.essexct.gov.  The statutory deadline for filing personal property declarations is Wednesday, November 1, 2023.  As per CT General Statute 12-41, any person filing a late or incomplete form or who does not file will incur a 25% penalty.

Applications for farm, forest, or open space land will be accepted until December 30, 2023 since this is a reassessment year.  Forms are available in the Assessor’s Office or on the Town of Essex Website.
