The Town of Essex has implemented a state-of-the-art emergency notification system to alert citizens about emergencies and other community news. The emergency notification system, operated in partnership with Everbridge, enables the Town to provide essential information quickly and for a variety of situations, such as severe weather, fires, floods, unexpected road closures, or evacuation of buildings or neighborhoods.

How do Emergency Alerts Work?

The process begins when the Town of Essex issues a message about a potential hazard or concern. Messages will be sent to all standard voice and text communication devices, including land line phones, mobile phones, email and more. If you do not confirm receipt of the message, the system will try to reach the contact number or device that you entered into the system.

Sign Up for Emergency Alerts

There are multiple ways of signing up for the Safer Essex notification system.

Residents, businesses and neighbors with listed telephone numbers have already been included in the system. Click on the button below to create a login and profile to the system. You can also come back to this page, click on the button, and modify your profile to update your information at any time.

Call the Department of Emergency Management at 860 767-8139 and leave a message with the following information:

First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name
Address
City, State, Zip Code
Location (Home, Work, etc.)

Any of the following contact devices:
email address, home phone, home phone #2, mobile phone, mobile phone #2, FAX #

or

Please fill out the last page of the mailer and drop it off at the First Selectman's Office. We will enter your information as soon as possible.
