James Francis called the meeting to order at 8:05 pm.

Others present: Treasurer Robert Dixon

Set 2008-2009 Town of Essex Budget for Town Meeting:

There was discussion regarding the Public Hearing. At the Public Hearing the Essex Board of Education reported that they had reduced their proposed budget by $19,375 which reflects a part-time custodian. There was discussion with regard to the Region 4 referendum and the total Region 4 budget amount. The Elementary School budget was reduced from $6,809,915 to $6,790,540. The total budget was reduced from $19,958,646 to $19,939,271.

Motion was made by Fred Vollono to move to Town Meeting an amount not to exceed $19,939,271 in expenditures for support of schools, highways, general government and other necessary objects. Keith Crehan seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved. Motion carried.

James Francis adjourned the meeting at 8:20 pm.
