Town Treasurer

As Town Treasurer, I am pleased to report that the financial status of the Town of Essex is excellent. Our revenues exceed our budgeted forecast, and we do well compared to most towns in keeping our expenses below budget. Our undesignated fund balance is approximately 8% of our annual budget, well exceeding the recommended 5% that most towns strive for.
      This department manages town funds that come in through our tax base and various grants and other revenues. We are responsible for:

• payroll, including employees salaries & benefits
• program expenses
• Maintaining fiscal records
• equipment replacement
• investments and bank relations
• accounts payable

…and a whole lot more.
