chemical, petroleum or other potentially dangerous releases to
the environment:

Diseases
The Essex Health Department receives reports from laboratories
and doctors' offices concerning diseases listed as "reportable
diseases" by the CT Department of Public Health. These records
are considered confidential under federal HIPPA regulations and
are kept in locked files. Epidemiological investigations may be
done by state and local health authorities in response to these
reports.
Communicable
diseases in food service, day care or congregate living settings
are tracked by local health officials.
Educational
materials
on communicable diseases are available in the Essex Health Department.
Influenza and pneumonia vaccine clinics are scheduled by the Visiting
Nurses of the Lower Valley and are open to all Essex residents.
